Virtual Wine Uncorked-France Uncorked-South West France
Details
Perhaps less well known than other French regions, South West France encompases appellations such as Cahors, Madiran and Bergerac and the IGP of Cotes De Gascogne gives us grapes such as Gros Manseng. Your suggestions (mainly from the Wine Society and Majestic) will include white, red and sweet wines.
**Please read the info below as to how the virtual tastings work before booking**
OPEN VIRTUAL WINE TASTINGS
The idea behind these tastings is to keep them accessible and affordable and get people together over a glass or two of wine, hopefully discovering some new wines along the way.
How it works…
· Tastings are conducted via Zoom.
· If you don’t have Zoom, it is available here https://zoom.us/
· Tastings last about 45 minutes- 1 hour with time for chat and questions after the main tasting
· Tasters can chat amongst the group and ask questions via the ‘chat’ button
· During the tasting, I will introduce tasters to grapes and regions using screen sharing of maps and key points and taking a break between wines for questions and chat.
· I’ll also cover things such as food matching and serving wine
· I will set up a Zoom meeting and pass details all confirmed attendees 2 days before the tasting via email
· I will send wine suggestions once bookings are confirmed
What about the wine?
· Tasters arrange their own wine
· Stockist suggestions will vary and may include supermarkets, chains such as Majestic, local retailers such as Fountainhall Wines and online from thewinesociety.com
· I would suggest that tasters chose 2 different wines to try during the tasting
· If those wines aren’t available, then stay with the chosen grape/region and pick something else or if you already have something suitable at home that’s fine too.
· It doesn’t matter if people are drinking for example different Chardonnays as we can chat about why they are different.
· I would like to know in advance what people have chosen.
What does it cost and how do we book and pay?
· The cost is £10.00 per household and I would ask that everyone in the same household uses the same screen
· Please use the RSVP on this page to book and pay
· Once I receive notification of your booking, I will email wine suggestions to the address associated with your Paypal payment
What are the max numbers for a tasting?
- 19 households
What do tasters need to do to prepare for the tasting?
· Buy their Wine!
· Have a separate glass for each wine to allow you to compare and contrast the wines and see how they develop in glass
· Glass of water.
· Pen and paper if they would like to make notes
· If you are having snacks, keep the flavours neutral such as plain crisps or crackers during the tasting, that will allow flavours of the wine to shine.
· Don’t over chill the white wine, 2 hours in the fridge before the tasting is fine.
