What we’re about
Wing shooting the act or practice of shooting at game birds in flight or at flying targets, typically clay pigeons. Modern wing shooting disciplines include trap, skeet, and sporting clays. Upland game and waterfowl hunters use wing shooting skills to take wild birds "on the wing."
Snake River Quail Forever is a habitat and education organization serving the Treasure Valley and southeast Oregon. We offer innovative wing shooting training opportunities for youth and adults throughout the year. As a volunteer-run non-profit, we are able to offer courses a low cost. Our mission is to introduce the joys of wing shooting and upland hunting to the public. Note that one can enjoy and pursue wing shooting/shotgun sports without becoming a hunter

### About the Event
Upland bird and waterfowl hunting are popular pursuits in Idaho. There are many skills required to be successful in both, but one of the most challenging is the development of wing shooting skills.
In this introductory class, volunteer instructors from Idaho Fish and Game's Hunter Education program and Snake River Quail Forever will provide basic instruction on wing shooting, addressing firearms safety, shotgun manipulation (e.g., loading and unloading), safe shotgun handling, gun fit, gun mount, stance, sight picture, the importance of patterning and more.
The course is designed for shooters who are new or returning to wing shooting. Students will finish the class having hit a few clays and gained a deeper understanding of wing shooting fundamentals.
All students are required to have successfully completed an Idaho-recognized Hunter Education course PRIOR to signing up for the course. The course is open to adult and youths aged 12 years and older.
Loaner shotguns, ammunition and ear/eye protection will be provided. For liability reasons, the use of student-owned firearms is not permitted during class. We are happy to check gun fit of student-owned firearms after class.
