In celebration of International Open Data Day (https://opendataday.org), DecisionWorks Consulting (https://decisionworks.ca), together with support from The City Of Winnipeg (https://data.winnipeg.ca) and Launch Co-working (https://launchcoworking.ca), are hosting the 2021 Winnipeg Open Data Hackathon on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
This year’s event will be a little different than past years in that this hackathon will be conducted virtually. A virtual platform will be used to provide general event attendance, presentations and group brainstorming. Once teams are formed, the platform will allow each team to meet in separate breakout sessions while they work on their projects. Note: due to the virtual environment being used this year we will be limiting hackathon participants to a total of 50. Register soon to ensure your spot is reserved. There will be no limit set on the number of observers.
The theme this year will be Public Works, with a wide variety of sub-themes possible including snow removal, roadworks, lane and road closures, grass cutting in parks, and mosquito spraying.
Each hackathon participant will be receiving a food certificate they can use to purchase lunch during the day and have it delivered. In order to receive food certificates you must register by 5pm, Mar 1st, 2021. Note: observer registrants will not receive vouchers.
In addition, prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams, as chosen by input from peers, sponsors and coordinators.
Additionally, a very special one-time opportunity will be given to the winning team to represent the open data community by being invited to participate in the City of Winnipeg’s Open Data Steering Committee.

• There are no fees to attend this event as a hackathon observer or hackathon participant.
• You'll need to RSVP for this event here in order to see the Zoom event registration link with which you must register to attend the hackathon on Zoom (this means you need to be a registered Zoom user).
During the Zoom event registration, you will be asked if you will be attending only as an observer, or actively participate as a hackathon team participant.
• Each confirmed hackathon team participant will receive a food certificate they can use to purchase lunch during the day and have it delivered.
• Hackathon participants must supply their own computer system.

10:45am to 11:30am - Visioning Session and Team Formation
11:30am to 3pm - Team Hackathon Session #1 (Mentors Available)
3pm to 3:30pm - Group Check-in / Presentation Format Review
3:30pm to 4:30pm - Teams Prepare Presentations
4:30pm to 6:00pm - Teams Presentation
Winners will be announced following the event
