In this meeting, Robert Balshaw will explain the basics of R Markdown.

Markdown is a combination of regular text, combined with tags that change the way the text is formatted.

An R Markdown document contains a combination of text, Markdown, along with R code. Once you’ve written an R Markdown document, you can “knit” the document to construct all kinds of nicely formatted documents, from reports in PDF, to web pages in HTML, or Word documents.

An R Markdown document has a special file type with the .Rmd suffix.

Please bring a laptop computer if you wish to do hands-on exercises at this meeting.
