Bird Walk at Lake Wateree State Park

This is the first bird walk I have led in South Carolina, though I have done these all over the USA and the world. We live here now and would love to get to know the birds and people of this region.

It's going to be hot! That is why we are starting at 7:00 a.m. so we can be sure to see some birds and also to avoid the increasing heat. Later in the year we will start later in the day.

During the walk we will leisurely walk to observe birds, and while we go we will also experience sharings by participants, conversations, reflections, and nature practices. Our goal is to connect to nature and to each other, nourishing our lives, relationships, and the earth.

We will start at the ranger station, and then walk to the beginning of Desportes Island Nature trail. From there we will take the right loop where I recently saw many species of birds feeding on emerging and flying insects.

There is a $3 charge for adults to enter the park, payable at the entrace. Please bring comfortable walking shoes and water if you need it. There will be some bugs about so you might want to use repellent.
