Join us for an evening of stimulating discussion on faith.

Faith is one of the most powerful and deeply personal aspects of human life. It transcends cultures, religions, and personal beliefs. Whether rooted in a spiritual tradition or a general sense of trust in something greater, faith often shapes how people view the world, make decisions, and find meaning in life's challenges.

In religious contexts, faith is typically defined as a strong belief in God or the doctrines of a particular religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof. But faith can also refer more broadly to trust — in people, in the future, in unseen outcomes, or even in oneself.

This discussion invites us to explore the many dimensions of faith: What does it mean to have faith? How does it influence our choices, values, and relationships? And how do we maintain or question our faith in times of doubt?

Possible areas of discussion include the following questions:

Personal Reflection

  1. What does “faith” mean to you personally?
  2. Can you think of a time when your faith was challenged? How did you respond?
  3. Do you believe faith must always be connected to religion? Why or why not?

The Nature of Faith

  1. Is faith something we choose, or something we receive?
  2. Can faith and doubt exist at the same time? What do you think that looks like?
  3. How does faith differ from hope or optimism?

Faith in Action

  1. How does faith influence your daily life or decisions?
  2. In what ways do people demonstrate faith in others or in themselves?
  3. Can you think of a historical or modern figure whose faith inspired change? What can we learn from their example?

Interfaith and Broader Perspectives

  1. How can people of different faiths find common ground?
  2. What are the dangers of blind faith? How can one balance faith with critical thinking?
  3. How do faith communities impact society, for better or worse?

These are just some of the questions we will discuss during our meetup. No preparation needed, just bring yourself and a willingness to listen and share your thoughts.

Please sign up for our Facebook group also, as we will likely switch over to that format at some point.
