Explore the Sauk Prairie State Recreation Area and Badger Army Ammunition Plant

Join us for an adventurous ride as we explore the Sauk Prairie State Recreation Area and the remnants of the Badger Army Ammunition Plant.

Details:

• Meeting Place: Near the intersection of Carolina Street and Sycamore Street, by Meyer Oak Grove Park in Sauk City.
• Route: 34-mile ride (round-trip distance) using the Great Sauk State Trail to get to the Sauk Prairie State Recreation Area, which includes the land formerly comprising the Badger Army Ammunition Plant. Note that this route is best suited for mountain bikes due to the gravel, dirt, and grass trails and the otherwise rough roads through the Sauk Prairie State Recreation Area.
• Ride With GPS Route: SC-034-SPSRA-Gravel (If you have a GPS, it is highly recommended to download the route to your GPS. There will not be any maps or cue sheets handed out at the ride.)
• Tentative Plan/Pace: 3 to 3.5 hours of riding.
• Trail Pass: A Wisconsin State Trail Pass is required to ride on the Great Sauk State Trail. All riders are encouraged to purchase their trail pass before our ride. Trail passes may be purchased online or at most Wisconsin bicycle shops.
• Before-Ride Dining/Socializing: Before our ride, we will gather at Vintage Brewing Company in Sauk City. They have a Sunday Brunch Buffet through 2:00 PM. Hopefully, we will be able to be seated on the outdoor patio. If you wish to join the brunch, aim to arrive around 12:30 PM, tentatively when the morning riders will be arriving.

For the ride, plan to arrive by 2:15 PM. We will push-off promptly at 2:30 PM.

Our specific meeting location is at Meyer Oak Grove Park in Sauk City. There is parking along Carolina Street near Sycamore Street. The ride will begin at the corner of Carolina Street and Sycamore Street.
