Event Description
What does it mean to flourish—not just to feel good, but to live in a way that nourishes yourself, others, and the world?
In this week’s Wisdom & Compassion gathering, we’ll explore flourishing as a lived practice. Drawing from psychology, mindfulness, philosophy, and contemplative wisdom, we’ll use a curated set of quotes as springboards for interactive dialogue, reflection, and shared insight.

Together, we’ll look at flourishing through three intertwined lenses:
✨ 1. Flourishing by Doing Good
Flourishing isn’t a solo project—it’s relational, communal, and expressed through the impact we have on others.
Barbara Fredrickson reminds us that flourishing is “beyond feeling good… it’s doing good—adding value to the world.” Jane Goodall echoes this with her gentle challenge: “You have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
We’ll explore how kindness, contribution, and meaningful work become the soil in which a thriving life grows.
🧘 2. Flourishing by Being Present
Thich Nhat Hanh teaches that if we can’t wash the dishes with presence, we won’t truly drink our tea either. The Buddha points us back to the only moment we ever actually have: the present one.
We’ll reflect on how mindfulness, attention, and daily habits shape our identity and our capacity to flourish—one moment, one breath, one action at a time.
🌟 3. The Sacredness of Consciousness
Thomas Merton describes contemplation as “spontaneous awe at the sacredness of life.” Mary Oliver offers her simple instructions: “Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”
We’ll explore how awareness itself becomes a gateway to meaning, connection, and a deeper sense of aliveness.
