 - Dead River Sink HikeLocation not specified yet- Join us on an approximately 3 mile or 4 hour hike on the Dead River and the dry Alapaha River bed. Initial meetup at Jennings Bluff Cemetery. Short stop there where we will climb down a steep bank to explore a spring. Then a drive into public lands to Dead River Sink where we will hike out on the dry Alapaha River and hike the river bed, led by Practicing Geologist Dennis James Price. This area has recently been designated a State of Florida Geological Site. 
 Put In: Jennings Bluff Cemetery. On US 41 go approximately 2.25 miles south from center of Jennings and turn left onto NW 25th Lane, which dead ends at the cemetery on the Alapaha River. (Meetup does not recognize this address so I could not add the map.)

 Bring: sturdy boots or shoes, clothes for woods with stickers, water, and snacks. Also trash pickers and trash bags: every WWALS outing is also a cleanup.

 - Paddle to explore Big ShoalsBig Shoals State Park, 11330 Se County Road 135, White Springs, FL, US- River is low and shoals are exposed so lets go exploring. We'll launch from the steps at Big Shoals State Park launch site and paddle one mile to the portage. Then we'll walk out to the shoals and enjoy the unusual view of shoals that are usually covered with rushing water. This could be the prettiest lunch spot you've ever had. 
 Follow Leave No Trace principles by packing out all trash, avoiding damage to vegetation, and respecting wildlife.
 Everyone must wear a PFD while paddling.
 This is a beautiful section of the Suwannee River, the current is slow, we'll paddle back towards the takeout and for those who want to paddle further we can paddle on up the river and back. No shuttle.
 If you have wheels they could come in handy for the long walk from parking lot to the launch site.

 - Full Beaver Moon Paddle - Honoring VeteransBanks Lake National Wildlife Refuge, 307 Highway 122 West, Lakeland, GA, US- Join us for a leisurely Sunset and Full Moon Paddla on our mini-Okefenokee just west of Lakeland, Georgia. Watch the sun set, the moon rise, and there may be bats. 
 This Outing is honoring Veterans, who get free entry.
 When: Gather 4:45 PM, launch 5:15 PM, moonrise 5:39 PM, sunset 5:41 PM, end 6:45 PM.
 Please follow Leave No Trace principles by packing out all trash, avoiding damage to vegetation, and respecting wildlife.
 Safety: Be on time. If you miss the safety briefing, you cannot paddle with us. Each person in a boat, no matter how young or old, must wear a PFD.
 You must have a light for your boat or some type of light to have on yourself (glow sticks work well, or head lamp, flashlight, etc.) so other boaters can see you in the dark. It will be totally dark after sunset.
 A whistle is not required, but it’s a good idea in the dark.
 Boats: Bring your own canoe or kayak if you have it.

 - Meet and Greet - Georgia Beer CompanyGeorgia Beer Company, 109 S. Briggs St, Valdosta, GA, US- Update 2025-10-07: Rescheduled to November 9, 2025. Also Scotti and Sara Jay are hosts. 
 Join WWALS for a relaxed social outing where members, friends, and newcomers can get to know each other, share ideas, and learn more about our upcoming outings, clean water advocacy efforts, and volunteer opportunities. Music by Scotti Jay. We will set up in the pump house and hang up banners.
 *Georgia Beer Company will still be open as usual; we have NOT reserved the entire facility for this event.

 This is a dutch treat event. Grab a bite to eat or sample some local craft beer while you mingle.
