Withlacoochee River Langdale Park Chainsaw Cleanup

Cancelled due to high water. It’s hard to chainsaw logs six feet under.

Join us at Langdale Park on the Withlacoochee River seeking deadfalls to chainsaw and trash to collect. Depending on conditions such as water level, we may instead start at Troupville Boat Ramp and go down around the Little River Confluence and up the Withlacoochee River.
When: Gather 9 AM, launch 9:30 AM, end 2 PM
Boats: We will be using the WWALS jon boat with the 9.9hp outboard and the 24-inch Husqvarna Rancher chainsaw paid for by a grant from Wild Green Future, plus other saws, electric and gas. If you have a jon boat with outboard and can bring it, please do. Kayaks and canoes are welcome to paddle along.
Bring: the usual personal flotation device, boat, paddles, food, drinking water, warm clothes, and first aid kit.
Also trash pickers and trash bags: every WWALS outing is also a cleanup.
If you have a chainsaw and know how to use it, bring it along. Or a sawzall or handsaw, which is especially good for small underwater limbs. But you do not have to saw: you can pick up trash, or photograph, or just paddle along.
Safety: Be on time. If you miss the safety briefing, you cannot paddle with us. Each person in a boat, no matter how young or old, must wear a PFD.
