Optus - Ascot - Maylands - East Perth Loop (13.8km)

😀 Nice sleep in due to the late start. 😀
This walk starts at the East End of the Matagarup Bridge near the Optus Stadium. We head north and follow the eastern side of the Swan River walking through Ascot Waters and cross the Garrett Rd Bridge into Maylands. Now walking south along the river we take our secret shortcut across the peninsular and eventually end out at Claise Brook in East Perth for a well deserved coffee and chat.
The long range forecast suggests a perfect day with temperatures in the range of 10-16°C and the sun making an appearance.
Where: East End of the Matagarup Bridge (Click on the pin drop of the map for our exact meeting point)
Parking: There is plenty of parking next to the Camfield.
Distance: 13.8km with just under 2.5 hours of walking time.
Difficulty: Flat, paved paths with little elevation gain. Expect a good walking pace of around 5.5 to 6km/h. This walk is for regular walkers who can handle the rigour of this speed and distance. Please don't put your name down if you can't make it. Shared paths with bikes and dogs - the dogs are well behaved.
What to bring: Water, good walking shoes, hat and sunscreen. Take wet weather gear if you have no faith in my forecast.

Café after the walk: We will share a chat, coffee and bite to eat at The Partisan. This is our favourite café because they do look after us. Give yourself 2hr 30 minutes to the Partisan and 15 minutes to walk back to your car from there.
