Details
Anna was determined to have us visit her favourite spot in the hills.
Long range forecast: Expected scattered clouds and temperatures between 15°C to 18°C during our hike. Slight chance of rain.
This hike is a 3.5 hours, 13km loop near the Mundaring Weir. Starting at the Tavern we head to the Discovery Centre going west to the Ball Creek Camping site on the Bibbulmun Track, we turn south heading to Lake CY O'Connor following it back to the Weir and #1 Pumping Station to complete the loop.
The walk goes through a picturesque part of the Darling Range with beautiful views, stunning forest and abundant wildlife to spot.
At the end of the walk we will have lunch at the Mundaring Weir Hotel.
Where: Mundaring Weir Hotel (Click on the map for exact meeting point)
Parking: Plenty of parking near the pin drop.
Distance: 13km Elevation 406m
Difficulty: Given the distance and elevation this hike is for regular walkers. Be prepared to handle a few hills and walk at a reasonable pace as we need to make lunch before noon. 🍞☕️
What to bring: Plenty of water, good hiking shoes, hat & sunscreen (poles if you want). Come prepared for a possible shower or 2
Toilets: Near the start, Campsite & Weir (or in the bush 😆).
Lunch after the walk: Given we are expecting to take about 3.5 hours it would be nice if we can sit together and share a lunch at the pub. See link to their menu below including the seniors menu.

Fun fact: When completed in 1902 Mundaring Dam Wall was claimed to be the highest overflow dam in the world.
There is a lot of history in those hills, here’s a few links to whet your appetite.
