Western Mass Wordpress - Caching plugin and other caching solutions

What we'll do

This meetup is open to anyone interested in Wordpress: newbies, developers, designers and administrators. All are welcome.

Agenda

• Current projects (20 minutes) - Introduce yourself, tell us what you are working on at the moment and what you are learning about.

• Problems and Solutions (30 minutes) - Bring us your current problems and we'll use groupthink to try to solve them. If you have a laptop to demonstrate your issue, bring it and we'll plug you into the projector.

• Caching plugins and other caching solutions (60 minutes) - John will do a deep dive into the world of caching. Caching can speed up the response for rendering your web page, making visitors less likely to impatiently go somewhere else. There are two approaches: use plugins that keep a cache on your web server, or use content delivery networks like CloudFlare to place static images geographically closer to your users. Or some combination of both perhaps, or maybe you've developed your own solution. Come to learn and share!

What to bring

You may wish to bring a laptop to take notes or to share your screen on the projector. You may need a HDMI port if you want to share your screen.

Important to know

We're moved to new hopefully permanent space -- the inRESONANCE Building in Northampton's Industrial Park. We've also moved from our traditional time on the 3rd Thursday to 3rd Thursday, mainly to accommodate John.

We are NOT meeting in our temporary space we used in September and October (Coldwell Banker conference room in Northampton.)
