Next week's WNC Web Technology Network Meeting

From: Keith
Sent on: Thursday, July 10, 2008 3:20 PM
We will kick off the next meeting with a 20-minute presentation about Enterprise Architecture by Steffi Rausch, a member of the WNC Web Technology Group and founder of evolv, a custom graphic design and web development company focused on the needs of small businesses.

Enterprise Architecture began achieving widespread acceptance after the US Government passed the Clinger-Cohen Act (CCA) in 1996. The Act requires government information technology to be operated exactly like an efficient and profitable business, where acquisition, planning and management of technology is treated as a "capital investment."

Steffi has a BS degree in Math Education from the University of Maryland at College Park, and later studied Graphic & Digital Design at the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art. She has been designing websites since 1998 and recently moved to Asheville from Montana after buying some land in North Carolina from her father, where her ultimate goal is to build a straw bale house.

The subject of Enterprise Architecture is close to Steffi, since her father Felix Rausch is a pioneer in the field. He started the Federated Enterprise Architecture Certification (FEAC) Institute, which is the world's first certification and training institute for Enterprise Architecture. FEAC's lecturers include John Zachman, originator of the the Zachman framework which is considered the de facto standard for classifying the descriptive representations or models that comprise enterprise architecture. Steffi has completed a practicum at FEAC, equivalent to 1/3 of a graduate degree.

Her presentation will be entitled "Enterprise Architecture: Improving Management and Marketing"

The rest of the agenda is:

1. Introductions.
2. Presentation by Steffi Rausch (see details above)
3. Roundtable discussion about future presentations, using the suggestions from the last meeting as a starting point.
4. Projects - generate a list of ideas/definitions and see what are the main areas of interest.
5. General discussion and wrap-up.

Total time 2 hours max.

See you there!

Keith
