Clamshell Loop at Steep Rock

Join us for this 2.3-mile loop trail near Washington, Connecticut. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 50 min to complete. (We will add on another trail after this initial loop) This trail is great for hiking and running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. The Clamshell Loop offers an enchanting walk around the Shepaug River area. As you follow the well-maintained path, you’ll be immersed in lush forests and peaceful sights of the water. The gentle inclines along the trail make it perfect for all types of hikers. A highlight of the trail is the railroad tunnel, that goes through the cliffside of this pathway.
