River to Reservoir Walk

Details
Come join us for beautiful walk above the Farmington River in New Hartford, on the old Farmington River Turnpike. The dirt road sits picturesquely above the river and below the rise of Ratlum Mountain. Where the road ends, we will take a short jaunt up to view Lake McDonough, the compensating reservoir below the Barkhamsted Reservoir, before turning back to our start point. Very easy and flat, no needs for poles.
It is 3 miles in and out to the parking lot, with an optional extra mile loop the other direction if we decide to add it on at the end. Afterwards, we will meet at nearby Germain’s on Main, 280 Main Street, New Hartford. https://www.germainsonmain.com/
Directions: Put Breezy Hill Road, New Hartford, into your GPS (NOT in Canton). Immediately when you turn off of 44 onto Breezy Hill, take a left onto Farmington River Turnpike. Keep going until it turns to a dirt road, and a bit farther you will see the parking area on the left.
