About us
Welcome!
We are a group of women, mostly retired, who are committed to living our best lives and staying active, engaged, and connected.
Our group offers a variety of activities that support women’s physical, social, and educational interests, along with opportunities to volunteer and give back to our communities. Most activities take place on weekdays, with occasional weekend events.
We began as a hiking group, and while we’ve expanded our activities, hiking continues to be a core part of who we are. Most hikes are at a pace of 17–20 minutes per mile, so if you sign up for a hike, please be comfortable with the pace and distance described in the event posting. But you may also find us cycling, paddling, climbing—or trying something completely new.
We also enjoy activities that allow us to learn, explore, and experience new things through tours, educational programs, and visits to interesting places. After all, learning new things just makes us more interesting people!
We’re just beginning to explore opportunities for our members to volunteer and give back to our communities, and we hope you’ll be a part of that too.
The social connections and friendships that develop along the way are one of the most important parts of this group. Come to a few events and chances are you’ll find women you genuinely enjoy spending time with.
Our events are organized and led by our members and there is always an opportunity for you to get involved.
There is an annual cost for our group of $299 to use the Meetup platform. Each October we ask members to contribute $5 toward this cost.
Thank you for your interest in Active Women 55+. We hope to see you soon—and often!
