Small Models in Practice: Gemma 4, Four Ways
Details
π AI is changing how we build software, and staying relevant means knowing how to actually work with agents, not just prompt them. That's what this series is for.
Women Coding Community presents the AI Learning Series: one hands-on session a month, no heavy slides, real tools and real code you can use at work.
Session 3 of the Harness Series: the first two sessions gave the agent a skill, then hands and a seatbelt. This month we give it the right engine. π€
π Session 3: Small Models in Practice: Gemma 4, Four Ways (all levels)
πΉ Why and when people reach for a small model instead of a frontier one: cost, privacy, latency
πΉ Gemma 4, four ways: download and run it locally, containerise it with Docker, call it through Ollama Cloud, or deploy your own endpoint on GCP for a fixed cost
π Build: get Gemma 4 running end to end and slot it into the harness from Sessions 1 and 2, starting every POC at zero cost before reaching for anything bigger
