Intro to Malware Analysis

Come join us for a talk, expand your knowledge, and meet someone new!

The talk will cover how to begin analyzing malware by doing basic triage, static and dynamic analysis. Time permitting, we will also go over setting up an analysis environment and analyze a few binaries.

About the speaker:
Erye Hernandez analyses and reverse engineers malicious
code samples . She was previously with Palo Alto Networks and FireEye

• laptop with VMware or VirtualBox with a Windows 7 image and Ubuntu image to be able to follow along

Q: Is there parking available?
A: 3rd St. Parking Garage is the closest structure at $1/20min or $5 flat after 6pm. Surrounding metered parking is also available.

Q: Can I get there via public transportation?
A: The WeWork Valley Tower is 10min walk from the CalTrain-Diridon Station. It is also next to the Lightrail station, and steps away from many bus stops.

Q: Is there going to be food?
A: Unfortunately, this is not a sponsored event. Please feel free to bring your dinner though. There is water, tea, and coffee available at the kitchen.
