What we’re about
For Women who are passionate about SEO
Women in SEO is a free community open to all SEOs who identify as women or non-binary, in Scotland and the North of England, who want to hang out with other like-minded geeks, and make friends, learn and develop existing and new SEO skills.
Who is ‘Women in SEO’ for?
The Meetup is within a fully inclusive and non-competitive environment. Whether you identify as she/her, they/them or ze/zir, join us to:
- Discuss career or SEO challenges
- Network with peers
- Find a mentor
- Find a mentee
- Make friends in the industry
- Discuss the latest trends
Whether you’re new to SEO or a seasoned professional, whether you run your own agency or want a group to exchange new ideas with because you’re a freelancer and work on your own, this group welcomes everyone who is enthusiastic about SEO and wants to learn, develop further and openly share their knowledge with others.
Do I have to know SEO to join?
No, not at all! This group will help to give you confidence about what you already know about SEO and what skills and knowledge you need to grow in the SEO industry.
What's the purpose of the group?
Our thinking is that Scotland and the North of England is lacking events for women and non-binary people in SEO, where we can talk about challenges, new trends and support each other. We share methods, tools, workshops and articles dedicated to SEO.
What format are the events in?
We're keeping the agenda quite open as we're keen to make space for everyone to share their experiences and challenges!
Where will the events take place?
We will be starting meetups in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle and will move to other areas such as Manchester, Fife, Inverness etc.
How come the events are free?
The events are sponsored by Serps Invaders, a women-led global digital marketing agency that wants to give back to the community. We would still greatly appreciate it if you could help us by sharing, liking and tweeting the events, so as many SEOs as possible can participate. From time to time we'll also invite other sponsors.
Who runs this event?
This event is run by Feli Betzl, who has been in the SEO industry for 20 years and feels it’s time to build a network of female SEOs who can support each other, share experiences and discuss new trends, as well as challenges they are experiencing.
Feli is the CEO and Founder of Serps Invaders, an award-winning global digital marketing agency who have worked on projects in over 80 markets.
Women in SEO – North - Code of Conduct
- Be kind and supportive
We want to create a community that is friendly, welcoming for all and supportive. That means treating everyone with the respect and kindness they deserve. - Zero tolerance of bullying
We don't want any bullying, intimidation or hate speech. That includes comments related to race, religion, culture, sexual orientation or identity. Just because we’re a women and non-binary only group, does not mean we’ll speak disparagingly of men within our industry or in general. - Strictly no sales allowed
Our in-person events are meant for sharing and supporting each other. Please keep your sales pitch for another time. There may be opportunities for this outwith our events, so feel free to share contact details and take sales conversations outside of our events. Generally we want to encourage collaboration and partnerships! - All questions are welcome
Don’t ever feel you can’t ask a question because it may be perceived as stupid. Our group is meant to offer support and help each other. Asking as many questions as you can at any stage of your career is a good thing! - Be judgement free
Be open-minded. Let’s not judge others based on the questions they ask. That includes also the level of language that they use: it is okay to not speak perfect English. Many people speak more than one language: be tolerant of accents and languages.
