Hi everyone,

We wanted to let you know about an event from some of the organizers of WiTNY that’s happening in Brooklyn. The Round is our tech hiring event that’s designed to take the pressure off finding a new job and taking the next step in your career. We’re inviting engineers and data scientists to join us at 26 Bridge on October 3rd where we’ll be joined by a range of tech teams that are currently hiring. The event will be an opportunity to approach the companies on your own terms, meet people from the actual tech teams, talk about what they do and find out if there’s a team you’re interested in working with. The event brings together people from all across the tech world and we’d love to have you join us.

To open the event we’ll be hosting talks from some excellent speakers:

5:00pm - 5:30pm - How Stack Overflow Hires Engineers
Jon Chan, Engineering Team Lead at Stack Overflow.
Get an inside look on how Stack Overflow attracts, evaluates, and onboards engineers on its team from an engineering perspective. Jon will give both developers and people looking to hire developers a walkthrough of what he looks for in people joining the team.

5:30pm - 6:00pm - Panel talks, In conversation with... Meetup and Kindbody.
Sara Griffis, Senior Director of Engineering at Kindbody.
Archana Anandakrishnan, Senior Data Scientist at Meetup.
Sixuan Liu, Software Engineer Team Lead at GIPHY
Baylee Feore, Director of Backend Engineering at Hinge
We’ll be deep-diving into their careers, getting insights into exciting projects they’re working on as well opening the floor for questions for you to ask anything we might not of covered.

We also have some brilliant announcements still to come on who else is joining them so stay tuned!

We have a great mix of exciting companies on board – including Turbulent, Meetup, DNEG, Moveable Ink, The Farmers Dog, Beeswax, Moda Operandi, Stack Overflow – and many more!

Our team have been running similar events in London since 2011 (we’re known there as Silicon Milkroundabout – check us out), where what started out as a meetup group above a pub has grown to become the largest tech hiring event in Europe. Across 18 events we’ve helped thousands of people discover new companies and find new jobs. We’re really excited to bring the event to New York for the first time and hope we can be as useful a tool for people working in the tech scene here as we are at home.

Even if you’re not currently looking for a new job, there’s lots going on at The Round to enjoy. We'll also be providing a free bar, DJ, art installations, VR experience and lots more surprises to come.

The event is ticketed but is completely free to attend. We’ll be focusing on roles in engineering and data science but plan to expand the event to more disciplines in the future. To secure your ticket you just have to apply via theround.com by giving us a link to an online profile (like Linkedin, Github etc) that shows your experience – so that we know the roles at the event are relevant to you. Your data is kept securely and never shared with anyone.
