In person workshop by Rev. Joanne Halverson
This workshop is sold out!

Matriarchal cultures spring from the lived experience of an alive, nurturing Earth-world: an ecosystem model including nature, the cosmos, and unseen realms. By reclaiming matriarchy, we regain the power and beauty of interconnection and revive our weary souls. Patriarchy is recent in history. Patriarchal cultures exert power over (rather than power with) social structures. Matriarchy was the way of life for over 30,000 years. Matriarchal cultures exist today, including in the northwest.
In this workshop, we will delve into how these divergent social structures and how they affect us psychologically, spiritually, and socially. In the workshop, Joanne will share both her knowledge and personal experience of matriarchy. We will include experiential and creative explorations through guided meditations, art, writing, and deep discussions.

A northwest native, Dr. Joanne Halverson lived off-grid in the wilderness for many years and continues to do so part-time. Joanne is a clinical psychologist, artist, lecturer, writer, and retreat leader. Currently, she leads groups and retreats in the wildlands. She also crafts psycho-spiritual portraits. Her stories and articles have appeared in numerous publications. Joanne has over 40 years of experience as a psychotherapist, educator, supervisor, and researcher working with diverse populations and engaging deeply with several Indigenous spiritual leaders. She emphasizes the importance of restoring the torn connections in our personal and cultural lives.
