Ladies Book Club & Potluck!
Details
Let's have another holiday book club & potluck!
Location:
One of our members is going to host this at her neighborhood's clubhouse. The neighborhood is Stonewater Creek in Millsboro.
RSVP Information:
Please make sure you update your RSVP immediately if you can't attend. Since we will be off the beach, we have to limit the guest count. I want to make sure everyone who actually wants to be there has a spot. Please keep in mind that even if you're on the waitlist, a spot almost always opens up!
Holiday Book Exchange:
We are going to have another holiday book exchange! You do not have to participate, but it was a ton of fun last year! For anyone interested, please bring a wrapped book. It can be new or used. It can be a favorite or something you have never read - it's a free for all. It just needs to be wrapped. We will have a game to exchange the books!
Holiday Cookie & Treat Exchange:
We are going to add a cookie/treat exchange! You do not have to participate, but we have discussed it before and thought it would be a fun addition. We are keeping it simple - you do not have to individually wrap anything. Just bring a container of whatever treat you choose to share. We will put these all out separately from our normal potluck (we will still have the normal potluck), and everyone will be able to walk around a grab one cookie/treat to add to their tupperware/bag to bring home! Even if you don't bring a cookie/treat for the swap, still bring something to take goodies home. We just ask that anyone participating brings approximately 2 dozen (minimum) to ensure we have enough for everyone to have one.
Potluck:
No theme - mystery potluck! Bring whatever dish or drink you'd like! No need to tell us. You do not need to bring plates, cups, napkins, etc. Just bring whatever potluck item you choose and serving utensils for that if needed! Since we are doing the treat exchange this year, we encourage savory dishes (but we love our sweets, so still bring anything you want).
Book:
Skipping Christmas by John Grisham
About:
Imagine a year without Christmas. No crowded shops, no corny office parties, no fruitcakes, no unwanted presents. That's just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they decide that, just this once, they'll skip the holiday altogether. Theirs will be the only house on the street without a rooftop Frosty the snowman; they won't be hosting their annual Christmas Eve bash; they aren't even going to have a tree. They won't need one, because come December 25 they're setting sail on a Caribbean cruise. But, as this weary couple is about to discover, skipping Christmas brings enormous consequences - and isn't half as easy as they'd imagined.
