We have been having more people ask about evening walks, so I am going to start posting those more frequently, along with some occasional weekend ones now that the weather is warming up! We will switch up locations for all of the walks. We all know Delaware is very flat, so you don't need to be an experienced hiker/walker. You don't need anything other than comfy shoes and appropriate clothes based on weather.

We will meet at 6:00 and start walking by 6:05 - 6:10. Anyone who is late can just catch up with us on the trail.

Trail: Pinelands Trail
This two-mile loop meanders on a gentle grade through coastal upland pine forest over packed and loose sand. Nature enthusiasts will discover four species of pine, including loblolly, Virginia, pitch, and black, as well as cranberry bogs. Hikers will see old artillery bunkers built during World War II in an area once traversed by rails used to supply Fort Miles. The Pinelands Trail was designated as Delaware’s first National Recreation Trail in 1981.

This trail head is by the Fort Miles Historic Area parking lot.

If you do not have an annual pass, there is a $10 fee for Delaware registered vehicles to get into the state park. I know some members have a pass already, so don't hesitate to comment about carpooling if you don't.
