[Online] Angular Monthly Meetup!

Details

Women Who Code San Diego and San Diego Angular Meetup meet the third Wednesday of each month. Each month we will have one or two talks that cover Angular or general Web UI/UX topics. Afterwards we open the floor for lightning talks any audience member wants to give. Everyone is welcome to these meetups whether you are an Angular expert or just heard about Angular for the first time in this post.

This month, we are hosting our Meetup entirely remotely! Closer to the event, we will post a Zoom link for everyone to use. You will need a Zoom account to be able to join the Meetup so please make sure you have that ahead of time.

⏰ Schedule ⏰
6:00pm - 6:20pm
Introductions

6:20pm - 6:50pm
"GraphQL & Apollo - An Intro for Angular Developers"
with Nicole Greene
GraphQL is a popular alternative to REST APIs. I will give a brief intro of GraphQL and Apollo Studio, and will demonstrate how to query for data from this type of server in an Angular application

6:50pm - 7:40pm
"This Is Why You Need To [Always] Use The Async Pipe"
with Ady Ngom
If Angular was a kitchen, the Async Pipe would easily be one the favorite ingredients and secret weapons for all those chefs cooking the next great web or mobile application. It packs so much that it may seem borderline magical. We will take the time to look under the covers, and see why it is probably the best bet when it comes to handling and serving async data to your view layer.

7:40pm - 7:50pm
Open the floor to attendees

7:50pm - 8:00pm
Questions and Closing Remarks

🗣 About our Speakers 🗣
⭐️ Nicole Greene
Twitter: https://twitter.com/dev_penguin_
Nicole Greene is a Javascript developer and consultant for Bitovi. She currently works on the backend in Node.js after spending over 3 years writing code in Angular. When she's not researching about or writing code, Nicole enjoys gardening, crafting, and spending time with her toddler.

⭐️ Ady Ngom

Twitter: https://twitter.com/adyngom
LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/adyngom
Solutions Designer / UI Architect / JS Tech Lead
Ady's first interaction with a computer was playing PacMan but he was more interested in knowing how it was built than how much fun it was to play it.
For the past 20 years, Ady has strived in building simple, engaging and very intuitive consumer facing products.
As a JavaScript Teach Lead and UI Architect, he spends a bulk of his time producing intuitive systems that are easy to scale and maintain.

When away from the keyboard, he enjoys the Georgia outdoors with his wife and two daughters.
To him, the unpredictable weather is a known issue that simply adds to the overall charm and he would not have it otherwise.
