Free workshop: Setting boundaries at work
Details
How good are you at setting boundaries at work? ๐
Many women in demanding jobs who come to me for coaching find it difficult to set boundaries. Not because they wouldn't know that it is important ... They may even have identified and analysed a pattern already; the habit of saying 'yes' although you feel 'no' .... saying 'yes' to the additional task, the late request, the extra meeting, the presentation, or, to just quietly do things yourself, because it would take more time to explain it to someone else and you don't want to overburden your team, or, because at the end it anyway falls back on you if things are not done in time ...
Setting boundaries is not just important with regard to the amount of work, but also with regard to the type of things we do, or the way others treat us at work, whether we feel respected as person and in our role and are able to bring in our strengths.
Setting boundaries is not just about limits, it is also about allowing ourselves to take space. Healthy boundaries are not about putting up walls, being harsh or selfish. They are helping us to protect our energy and be in our power. They also help others to know what is ok for us and what not. Boundaries provide clarity and by setting boundaries, we may even help others to take on their responsibility - eventually boundaries are important for effective collaboration.
๐ค If in theory it is all clear in our heads, why can it still sometimes be so hard to set boundaries and most importantly, what can we do about it?! This is the topic of my lunchtime workshop for women on Friday, 29 May.
