July's book poll open until June 21st https://strawpoll.com/NoZrz8MXaZ3
Hi!
Bookclub discussing Heart Lamp - winner of the International Booker Prize 2025. In 12 stories, Banu Mushtaq exquisitely captures the everyday lives of women and girls in Muslim communities in southern India
Published originally in the Kannada language between 1990 and 2023, praised for their dry and gentle humour, these portraits of family and community tensions testify to Mushtaq’s years as a journalist and lawyer, in which she tirelessly championed women’s rights and protested all forms of caste and religious oppression. - https://thebookerprizes.com/the-booker-library/books/heart-lamp
I’m new in town and want to create a cosy, friendly space for myself and others to meet new people and hopefully make friends. The idea is a small, welcoming English-language book club that meets on weekends at different cafés around Graz, with a focus on books written by women (those who identify as women). The goal is simple: good books, good coffee, and good conversation.
Come along if you enjoy:
• thoughtful book discussions
• discovering cafés around Graz
• meeting new people in a relaxed setting
Location: potentially Picknick in the Augarten -weather depending
Time: 11:00 am
When: Sunday 21st June
*Everyone is welcome, regardless of background or gender.
Looking forward to meeting fellow readers!
