Overview
A one-day immersion in silence, service, writing, and the gift economy — rooted in the wisdom of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Serviceberry book.

Serviceberry Retreat at Bhavana Meditation Center

“The serviceberry asks us what it would mean to live in a world of gift, reciprocity, and gratitude.”
—Robin Wall Kimmerer, The Serviceberry

Step away from the noise. Join a circle of women for one full day of silence, service, writing, and deep listening—in a space held by both forest wisdom and Buddhist practice. Guided by Serviceberry—Robin Wall Kimmerer's meditation on the gift economy and our interconnection with the natural world—this retreat weaves together sitting meditation, walking meditation, voluntary service, and the transformative practice of writing from truth.

What To Expect:

  • Opening and closing circle ceremonies rooted in our writing practices
  • Readings from Serviceberry and selected poetry by diverse women's voices
  • Instruction and guided sitting meditation (15-20 min) with Master Dang Ting Thich
  • Walking meditation around the pond in silence
  • A voluntary service project
  • Two guided writing circles
  • Ritual vegan lunch, eating in silence
  • Time for rest, free exploration, and being in nature
  • A copy of the Serviceberry to take home with you

Come prepared to listen inward, give freely, and write from a place of restored peace and equanimity.
