## Fun + Unconf = Funconf

Funconf is India’s First Unconf focused on Gamification and Serious Games at work for cultivating and fostering Innovation, Collaboration, Strategic Leadership, Teams Empowerment.
This year Funconf is virtual. And we bring you two of the copyright games from KOEN VASTMANS, who is an Agile Coach and also developer of these two virtual games. With this Funconf you will get free lifetime access to his virtual games app, and be able to use it with your team.
In this year's Funconf, our focus is on Product Backlog item slicing, and prioritization. We will use two games designed by KOEN VASTMANS, for which you will also get a life time access license. You can use these serious games at work to do story slicing with "SLICING AS CAKE" approach, and prioritization based on "MoSCoW" approach. Our two game for this Funconf are:

1. SLICING THE CAKE:
Even though there are very good resources with patterns to help you slice user stories, applying these patterns properly does not seem to be that simple. Koen relied on Richard Lawrence's material to teach people how to properly slice user stories to a SPRINTABLE size. For those who don't know the slicing patterns of Richard Lawrence: Guide to Splitting User Stories. Understanding how to slice user stories is 1 thing, and being able to do so, is something else. Many times people don't really know how to get started with these patterns. What if we could turn it upside down and start from the slices and see how they relate to a larger user story? That inspired Koen to come up with a card game about story slicing. The aim of the game is 3-fold:

  • you learn the purpose of slicing user stories and which pattern to apply when
  • you see how slicing patterns can help you to do story mapping
  • you get some good examples you can refer to once you need to get started yourself

2. THE MUST HAVE GAME:
Have you ever heard people say:
"Everything is important".
"Everything us a must".
"We had to drop all the should haves and could haves, we only have must haves left"
Someone clearly did not understand what MoSCoW is about. Only having must haves is one of the misconceptions about the MoSCoW principle. And that's exactly what inspired Koen to develop "The Must Have Game": a game to learn how to properly apply the MoSCoW principle and have people experience in a safe environment what the consequence is of statements like the ones above.
