WoW Wednesday Bay Area Edition-Meet Oakland's New Maker's Space
Oakland is known for being a hub for artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs of all kinds. That's why we love bringing WoW Wednesdays to the east side of the bay to connect our local members. For our next WoW Wednesday, we're touring the brand new Maker's Space at our HQ, the Port Workspaces, in downtown Oakland. Join us for this exciting look into a space designed to equip members with all the tools needed to breed creativity and fabrication. In this Meetup, we will hear from the director of the Maker's Space, Ethan Wittenberg, as he shares all about the space he has created and the tools available including: 3d printer, fdm 3d printer, vinyl cutter, heat press, mini cnc, mini drill press, soldering stations, tool wall, sewing/ embroidery machines with future plans for a laser cutter, serger, and more sewing machines! Ethan has been leading the design and build of the space and comes into it with a background in shop management and set building. He is excited to host the WoW community and learn more about the needs of our diverse group of designers, technologists, makers and beyond! About WoW Wednesday Every last Wednesday of the month Women of Wearables members come together around a topic that is important to our Bay Area community. We host a variety of opportunities to learn, connect, and collaborate, from panel discussions to interactive workshops. These meetups are designed to showcase the women innovating in wearable tech, fashion tech, IoT, health tech, VR, AR and all in between. WoW is not just for professional women, but for anyone with an interest in wearable technology and providing women with a platform for growth. We welcome trans women and men, non binary folks, and allies. More important than your gender identity (or lack thereof) is that you're a supportive and contributing member of our group.
