About us
Women On Boats is a Charleston-based group building a fun, supportive community of women boaters through three main pillars of programming:
- Private Lessons
- Available year-round so you can get one-on-one instruction for whichever skills you want to focus on. You choose the landing/marina & the boat (ours or yours).
- Group Classes & Workshops
- On-land workshops like Trip Planning are a great way to meet people, ask questions, and remove some of the intimidation before getting behind the wheel.
- On-water classes like 101: Foundations, 102: Confidence, and Trailering are designed for you to get hands-on experience at the helm in a supportive, small-group setting.
- Meetups & Adventures
- A mixture of events focused on socializing, having fun, and making the most out of boat life in Charleston - often with a secondary educational component. Learn the best sandbars to anchor up and explore, how to harvest & shuck a fresh oyster from the marsh, or just enjoy a cocktail on a sunset cruise with friends.
All of our programs are designed for women and taught by women. Our instructors are experienced captains who create an inclusive, encouraging learning environment with a focus on real-world skills, safety, and fun. Whether you want basic boating knowledge to fall back on in an emergency, or you want full boating independence, there's a place for you here.
