2nd meeting of our group: THE GILDED YEARS

For second meeting we will stick with Karin Tanabe and read her early book THE GILDED YEARS. This is about the first black woman to attend Vassar. She does so by passing as white.
This a true story about Anita Hemmings, a possible dependent of Thomas Jefferson and his slave Sally Hemings.
