Rakhi – it’s all about bonds of love!
Raksha Bandhan, or Rakhi (pronounced Raakhee) is an Indian festival that celebrates the bond of love and protection between siblings. Translated from Sanskrit, “Raksha” means protection and “Bandhan” means "bond" or "tie." On the day of the festival, sisters tie a decorative thread bracelet called a "Rakhi" around their brothers' wrists to symbolize their love and prayers for their brothers’ well-being. In return, brothers offer their sisters gifts, with a promise to protect and support them throughout their lives.
In modern India, this beautiful tradition has evolved to include relationships beyond siblings. Rakhis are now exchanged between other family members and close friends as a gesture of mutual love and respect. How sweet is that?!
Join Twentynorth Tribal in this special tradition and learn how to make a Rakhi bracelet for your special someone. It’s a great time to reflect on what they mean to you, and how much you appreciate having them in your life!
This class is All Inclusive.
