Marching Bucket Drums: Make & Take
Join us for this workshop where we’ll transform and personalize a bucket drum into a marching bucket drum. We’ll also spend some time playing the bucket drums so you can walk away with energizing grooves to play on your brand new (bucket) drum!

The bucket is a great percussion alternative for when you don’t want to bring out a fancier drum, don’t have a personal drum, or need something that can be left behind in an emergency. And sometimes you have to be mobile with your bucket drum - to second line, march, groove, dance, or catch up with friends. This workshop will help you transform a regular bucket into a bucket drum you can take with you on the go.

Cost includes price of supplies – you’ll walk away afterwards with your very own marching bucket drum.

Optional: Bring your own stickers, markers or other items to decorate your bucket.

Ages 16+ (ages 12-15 if accompanied by a parent)
Cost: $45
Open to all gender identities

Meet your instructor:
Allie began her foray into music almost 30 years ago as a pianist and started learning percussion over 25 years ago as a member of the World Beat Drummers in Duluth. She’s since played in jazz, classical, concert, and orchestral performance groups with performances in cities as far spread as Duluth, MN to San Antonio, TX.

Allie currently performs with drumHeart in the Twin Cities, teaches Corrective Movement for Percussionists, and leads Girl Scout workshops at the Women’s Drum Center. She designs classes with energy, education, ergonomics, and engagement in mind to ensure you’ll leave feeling invigorated by the power of drumming together.

Getting there and accessibility:
Please be prepared to remove your street shoes at the door. You're welcome to bring slippers (with a grip) or non-street shoes to change into upon arrival. We also have a limited supply of clean socks available to borrow. Our no-street shoe policy is designed to protect our new floor for posterity.

Our center is located in the basement of the Dow Building; it is accessed by one flight of stairs. The building does not have an elevator.
