“Reframe your thinking: instead of asking, ‘What job do I want?’ ask, ‘What problems do I want to solve?’” —Bill Burnett and Dave Evans

Shari and Rhonda look forward to you joining us for our next session exploring, discussing, and actively applying principles of Life Design from Bill Burnett and Dave Evans' original New York Times Bestseller, "Designing Your Life." See the first event description for more information on this series.

In this session, we'll explore Chapter 7 & 8, How Not to Get a Job & Designing Your Dream Job.

Chapter 7 addresses common pitfalls and myths surrounding the job search process. The authors debunk the idea that there’s a single, perfect job waiting to be found and emphasize the importance of shifting your approach from job hunting to job designing.

Chapter 8 builds on the idea of prototyping to help readers create meaningful work that aligns with their skills, interests, and values. It shifts the focus from passively searching for a job to actively designing a role that resonates with you.

Rhonda will bring in exercises from her coaching profession as a Career Strategist to encourage deeper understanding and openness to Curiosity, Bias to Action, Reframing, Awareness and Radical Collaboration.

REMINDER: DESIGNING is not CHOOSING! We are STILL in a stage that is not about finding answers but learning to embrace and explore the questions and staying curious about possibilities.

A copy of the book is required to fully benefit from participation in this Meetup. The book can be reserved at the local library or ordered from your bookstore of choice.

Please note what chapter we are covering in this session and plan to complete previous chapters and exercises prior to this meeting so that you are familiar with the concepts.

As discussed in our first meeting, you will benefit from joining gatherings whether you read each chapter and/or complete activities or not, so these "do ahead" invitations are just that, invitations to get the most out of the work! 🤩

We have created a WhatsApp channel outside of Meetup for all members to collaborate and share content, whether attending the live events or not. If you'd like to join the WhatsApp channel, please join here.
