Research consistently demonstrates the profound impact of artistic expression on mental health and overall well-being:
- A 2022 study in the Journal of Applied Arts & Health found that just 45 minutes of art-making can significantly reduce cortisol levels and decrease stress.
- Neuroscience reveals that creative activities activate the brain's reward pathways, releasing dopamine and promoting emotional regulation.
- Art therapy has been shown to improve mood, reduce anxiety, and enhance cognitive function across diverse populations. NOTE: Although this is not an art therapy session, it is very therapeutic!
Our Gentle Approach
This is a nurturing, low-pressure creative space designed to wash away the dust of everyday life (as Pablo Picasso wisely noted). Our session will unfold like this:
- Inspirational card drawing to set a mindful tone
- Brief introductions (optional)
- Bring your favorite beverage and let’s cheers to art-making
- Optional sharing of created works
What to bring?
- Your favorite art supplies (watercolors, colored pencils, markers, etc.)
- A peaceful spirit
- An open heart
- Adult beverage or mocktail
