Event description:

How git is structured under the hood.

Ensure a foundational understanding.

Tricks on rewriting history without making a mess.

Common scenarios you encounter at work how we can fix them.

Ideally, this will be interactive so bring your questions.

Pre-reqs:

  1. Participants have a working understanding of git. They can branch, commit, push, and pull from the CLI.
  2. While immediate knowledge of the command line isn’t necessary, we’ll be using it for class. Have git bash installed if you’re on Windows and haven’t used the CLI before.
  3. Register an account with GitHub at GitHub.com
GitHub is designed to run on the current versions of all major browsers. In particular, if you use Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE), you must be using the latest version. Take a look at our list of supported browsers.
  4. Install Latest version of Git
For the sake of security and functionality.
  5. Check your text editor
Make sure you have a text editor installed that you can launch from the command line. If you're in doubt, we recommend installing the Atom Text Editor. You can also configure Atom as your default text editor for Git commands using the instructions at help.github.com.
