Details

To celebrate America's Independence Day we can visit the National Museum of American History the day after.

The museum is open every day, except December 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free and no tickets are required.

We can visit the exhibits inside the museum. The Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2025 is also being held from July 2–7, 2025. This year's theme is Youth and the Future of Culture. We can go outside to see the various exhibits and entertainment events held on the national mall that are part of this year's Folklife Festival.

We can eat lunch in one of two dining options inside the museum: America’s Table Cafe or the LeRoy Neiman Jazz Cafe. The museum's main cafe is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Or we can get something to eat at the food booths that are part of the Folklife Festival outside the museum on the national mall.

At 10:00 am we can gather outside the Museum of American History. When we are all there, then we can go through security prior to entering the museum.

Take the metro to the Smithsonian station. Then walk from the Smithsonian metro station to the front of the Museum of American History.

The Museum is located on the National Mall at Constitution Avenue, N.W., between 12th and 14th Streets, Washington, D.C.
