What we’re about

There’s a lot going on right now to make us feel especially unsafe and unrooted, even within our own communities. Perhaps you’ve recently lost your home in the fires. You might be deeply disturbed by the political upheaval we’re experiencing within the US and across the globe. When so much of what we used to rely on for comfort and security feels like it's suddenly been yanked out from under us, where's the new comfort zone?

Let’s create one together. In addition to our families and existing friends, strength comes from numbers. Feelings of comfort, home, and safety don’t only result from our external circumstances. They also come from our connection to others, from the bonds of our relationships. At times of upheaval like this—when the future is particularly uncertain, unpredictable, and scary—creating “social safe houses” within our local communities can be a great source of comfort and good resource for the future.

Let’s escape our stress for awhile by meeting, learning about each other, and laughing together. If there's an interest, we can eventually begin developing tactics for fighting back, planning and preparing for extreme situations, and supporting each other in general through this unpredictable time.

Everyone is welcome…unless you only want to troll or start arguments. The only prerequisites for this group are that you're polite, non-judgmental, and accepting of all types of people and belief systems. Political affiliation does not matter; only character, an open and curious mind, and kindness are essential.

This is non-host event, meaning you will pay for your own food and drinks. I hope to meet you soon!
