Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for our yearly tradition. Please RSVP and join us as the Woodside-Sunnyside Runners present the Seventh Annual Halloween Pub Run!
Our adventure kicks off on Saturday, October 28, at 1:00pm, as we embark on a journey through four (or more) pubs while very casually running about 3ish miles through Sunnyside and Woodside. Be sure to dress creatively! There is a costume contest at the end. We’ll be offered drink specials by each of our pub hosts, and have a fun afternoon adventure here in Queens.
And, as is our tradition, we will not only enjoy ourselves, but also work to raise money for the a great cause. We are once again supporting the Hunters Point/Lions Club Thanksgiving Food Drive. Money raised rents the trucks that deliver the food. We suggest a $20 donation, but please feel free to give more or less, whatever is comfortable for you. Please bring cash which we will collect at the start of the event!
About the Pub Run
We began our Halloween tradition seven years ago, which was unfortunately timed to coincide with a freak, slushy October blizzard (two of the participants actually enjoyed the adventure so much that they are now married). Last year, 50+ runners participated with some awesome costumes, and we raised a funds for local non-profit while enjoying beverages and great company. This year, we will do the same!
Please RSVP now, prepare your costume and plan to join us. The more the merrier, so bring anybody else you can fool into thinking this is something that sane people do. Please do RSVP so we can get an idea of how many people to expect (it’s easier to encourage bar owners to give us good stuff if we have lots of people signed up).
Are you afraid that you might not be able to run 3ish miles in a Halloween costume while drinking? You should be, but not really. We’ll be stopping a bunch of times (at each pub), making the actual running distances quite short. We’re also extremely casual and will not leave anybody behind. The run between pubs will be comfortable-pace and friendly, suitable for just about everybody from beginning runners to marathoners and everything in-between. If you have friends or relatives who wish to join us and they insist upon only walking, please contact your organizer who can provide them with an appropriate route.
Additionally, we won't force you to drink at every pub if you don’t wish - we’re all about safety and enjoyment! There will be plenty of water and food opportunities available to balance things out.
You won’t know which pubs we’ll hit until we arrive at each. This makes things more fun, keeps the group together and lets everybody focus on socializing and enjoying the adventure. Keep your eye on this page for more details!!
NOTE TO THE MARATHONERS: If you are planning to run the NYC Marathon one week after this event and are not drinking, but would love to participate, your organizer needs your help. Give back to the group that has supported you through your training by volunteering to help out. Message your organizers for details.

Disclaimer: Any running event is a strenuous activity. Add alcohol to the equation and it makes it that much more challenging. Please ensure that you have an adequate fitness level for this sort of activity before planning to participate. You participate in this event at your own risk, but we really don’t want anybody to get hurt (i.e., we care about you). If you have questions or concerns, please message the organizer!
