Come enjoy woodworking in Sebastopol. Learn a new skill in our light-filled studio with other women or renew by starting a new project. Or give a class to a friend or loved one. Hope to see you soon!
The two-day class covers in the fundamentals of furniture making, using time-honored joinery, taught in a supportive shop environment with a maximum of 12 women. We will begin building a bench that can be used as seating for up to 2 people or as a small table.
-Learn to use traditional woodworking hand tools; chisels, dovetail saws, bench and block planes, drills.
-Make mortise and tenon joinery with tusk wedges and foxtail wedges
-Develop the skills and understand the process of building furniture with traditional joinery.
Class fee is $300- plus a $60- materials fee All tools are supplied.
Class hours are: Saturday, 10am to 5pm and Sunday, 10am-4pm.
Debey Zito, a professional furniture maker who has who has been designing, building and teaching furniture making for 50 years, is the instructor.
The focus of the class is learning joinery and developing hand tool skills. You may not finish your bench in one weekend. You can complete it at home or join another class as an ongoing student.
Ongoing students make a second project of their own design. A monthly Saturday and/or Sunday class is available.
The studio is in Sebastopol, one hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
