Leisurely paddle upstream and downstream on the beautiful Swift River. There is a bit of current and sometimes obstructions going upstream (north) to the Windsor Dam, if we can get that far. We will likely also go downstream (south) from the launch as far as the dam in Duckville.
The launch is off of Cold Spring Road where it crosses the river. An address of 545 Cold Spring Road, Belchertown, will get you close. The launch and parking area is on the south side of the road and the west side of the river.
The Swift comes out of Windsor Dam at the south end of the Quabbin Reservoir (it was damming of the Swift River that flooded the Swift River Valley to create the Quabbin Reservoir. It flows south and ends up at the Ware River just before the Ware joins with the Quaboag at Three Rivers to become the Chicopee, which goes west to the Connecticut River.
Launch is at 10 am. Call or text 561 315-0528 if you are running late.
