What we’re about
I am really interested in setting up a group who would like to learn together and try traditional/heritage crafts, I am learning green woodworking at the moment and can pass on some skills, but would like to try others such leather working, pottery, stained glass windows, blacksmithing, basketry etc. I have realized you can learn a lot just from places such as youtube but was thinking if we can get a group together we may be able to do more with tools to share and organize some occasional expert tuition and then just learn together as we go along. Also generally hanging out and socializing with like minded people sounds great to me! Any ability levels would be most welcome. I have started a discussion on how this group could work here please feel free to join in and add ideas.
I'm finding it a little difficult to describe to any potential members exactly what a traditional or heritage craft is. I think it is from a time where people had to make all of their everyday objects, brooms, bowls, spoons, bags, wallets, baskets, tools, furniture etc. I have been thinking that carrying on trying to keep the skills and techniques going that have developed over the years could be a lot of fun, and hopefully between us we will create some very nice objects along the way.
