Storytelling & Prose Open Mic

Details
Important: Remember to get your tickets in advance at: thestudioat620.org/events/november-short-story-and-prose-open-mic
Bring your finest prose or a true story to share at our monthly open mic.
In addition to open mic readers, we'll have a featured guest author.
This month’s featured artist is Deb Carson, author of “Becoming Flo.”
This is an amazing story about the power of art, courage, and hope that transcends bigotry, anti-Semitism, and homophobia.
It wasn't until 40 years after his death, that Deb learned about her great uncle, Albert White's, true persona, Flo. She spent time with him in vintage 1960s Florida in Sarasota at his home where he entertained with style, and even gave Deb and her sister a clown makeover.
She wrote the book to honor his remarkable life, a person who, against all odds, with true grit and determination mustered the courage to live an amazing life on her own terms. For those who struggle similarly, Flo illuminates a way out.
To purchase a copy of the book for $25 plus postage, email Deb at DebCarsonWrites@gmail.com.
Her presentation will be followed by open mic readings.
