Simon Janssen joined Digishock/WebsiteNazorg.nl four years ago. He helped spin off the web development and support departments, and with the latter he experimented with new business models. Two years ago, Simon set out on a journey to transform his company from an “hours factory” into a “value factory.” No more endless debates about billable hours, project overruns, or whether to charge clients for unexpected extra time. The result? A calmer workplace where employees and clients alike know what to expect, and where quality can truly flourish. In this talk, Simon shares his ongoing journey, with all its ups and downs, in the hope of inspiring web designers, agencies, and freelancers alike, and to move beyond the billable hour and build organizations where value and clarity take center stage.

Monique Dubbelman has been active in the WordPress Community, but currently works in a different field. In her presentation "Deploying for dummies: How I got my WordPress site online for free without understanding what I was doing" she'll take you through her messy journey from WordPress to static hosting

  • Ever paid loads of money each month for WordPress hosting? Tick.
  • Taken your website offline to save money? Tick.
  • Then spent ages trying to find free alternatives? Oh yes, tick.

Spoiler alert: she still don't know what a pull request is, but her site is live. And yes, she asked AI for help because she was stuck.
Don't expect a smooth story where everything works first time. Instead, expect: honest mistakes, confusing moments with Simply Static, GitHub, and Visual Studio Code, and proof that you don't need to understand everything to make it work. Perfect for anyone who's also secretly bluffing their way through developer land.
Bonus: learn from her biggest mistake (document everything you do!).
