Quick preparation note for the Vibe Code Your Own WordPress Plugin workshop
A small correction to the event announcement: although Claude Code is mentioned, you can actually follow this workshop with any AI chatbot that can generate code — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Mistral's Le Chat, HuggingChat, and others all work fine. Pick whichever you already like or want to try. A free account is enough.
Two things to sort out in advance so we can dive straight in on the night:
1. Register for an AI tool (free tier is fine)
Any of these will do — just make sure you can log in and send a message beforehand:
- ChatGPT — https://chat.openai.com/
- Claude — https://claude.ai/
- Gemini — https://gemini.google.com/ (Google account)
- Copilot — https://copilot.microsoft.com/ (Microsoft account)
- Le Chat — https://chat.mistral.ai/ (Mistral, France)
- HuggingChat — https://huggingface.co/chat/ (open source)
2. (Recommended) Install WordPress locally
Download and install LocalWP — a free program that runs WordPress directly on your laptop, no server or hosting needed:

After installing, click "Create a new site", accept the default settings, and check that you can open the WP Admin dashboard. Takes about 10 minutes including the download.
Finding the local install tricky? No problem — there will be support on the evening itself to help you get set up. We also have a zero-install backup option (a WordPress environment that runs entirely in your browser) that we can switch to if needed.
