Even if you're not a writer, or someone who is passionately blogging about what they love, blogging is still important. Regular, relevant content on your website helps to draw visitors and gets your website noticed by Google. But what do you write about?

Firstly, don't write just about you, write about what your audience wants or needs to know. Whether you blog daily, weekly, monthly or as the mood strikes you, having a plan can make it easier and quicker to get your ideas out to your readers. Finding your voice and being helpful are two of the biggest factors for attracting an audience.

We will explore using an idea file to help you come up with creative topics and an editorial calendar to plan your content. We will also discuss using best SEO practices while planning and writing your blog that will help get your content noticed by Google.

Our originally scheduled guest blogger is unavailable, so I have selected a recent video from the Wordpress TV repository from Wordcamp Australia to share. We will view the presentation together and have a discussion afterwards. There is a strong SEO focus to this talk, but it also touches on knowing your audience, using your voice, structuring the content, and headline creation. I think everyone can learn from it, no matter your skill level with Wordpress.
