Compromise, or Why I’m My Own Worst Coworker

Compromise can be necessary to get things done but it’s just so hard sometimes, especially when the stakes are high. I’ll talk about the strategies I use to decide what concessions to make and what to hold firm on. Also about realising that sometimes compromise is unnecessary because it’s just me needing to get out of my own way and the tactics I use to do exactly that.
Mary J Jay (JJ) is a software engineer who’s been working with WordPress for over 15 years. She currently works as a contract staff engineer at Vox Media where the person she needs to compromise with the most to deliver good software on time is herself.
