WordPress Norwich Meetup - April 2024: "New Website Workshop - Planning"
Details
TOPIC: "New Website Workshop - Planning"
In Person Start: 6:30pm (time for chat and catch-up)
Live Stream Start: 7:00pm
Wrap-up: 8pm
This is an in-person event held at No.8 Thorpe Road (The Red Cat Partnership), Norwich, NR1 1RY.
We are also trying a new, hybrid approach: from 7pm, the event will be streamed to online attendees via YouTube and we will also try to make the recording available after. If you RSVP, please look out for a private link around the start time of the event - we will try to email the link to everyone who RSVP'd and this will work to view the recording.
This month we're trying something new - over a series of workshops we will plan and build a new WordPress website for WP Norwich! The workshops will resemble a very relaxed 'hackathon', where discussing and planning is also an educational exercise for all of us about the things we need to consider and do when building a new site. To start with, we will cover topics such as:
- How to track tasks and progress (basic project management)
- Thinking about the 'why' of a website
- Planning content and structure
- Considering security, privacy, performance and accessibility from the start
- Considering different ways of building WordPress websites and the pros and cons for the particular project.
This is the first workshop. You do not need to attend all the workshops or previous workshops to participate. If you'd like to get involved further and take responsibility for a particular area, that's great. If you just want to learn about different aspects of building a WordPress site, that's fine too. We may have more specialised sessions relating to this project depending on the interest.
New members and WordPress beginners welcome.
If you have RSVP'd 'Yes' and realise you won't be able to make it, please RSVP 'No' as soon as you can.
We will cancel if there are fewer than 3 people down to attend on the morning of the event and will make sure emails are sent to keep you updated.
