There has been an explosion in the number of WordPress themes being developed in the past few years. The sheer volume of offerings can make theme selection an overwhelming challenge. Making an informed choice is the first step towards a wise choice.

Anne will present a brief history of her path through the theme labyrinth, then describe her current approach in choosing a WordPress theme. It is rarely based on aesthetics. She focuses on features, functionality, and Gutenberg-compatibility.

We’ll have plenty of time for discussion and sharing:

• Would Anne’s method works for you?
• Share other ways of selecting themes.
• What frameworks are available?
• Should you consider managed hosting?
• Compile a list of best practices.

Anne Katzeff specializes in designing custom websites for creative people, small businesses, and nonprofits.

Anne has been running her own business, ASK Design, for more than 20 years, turning her focus to web design about 10 years ago. She creates custom designs that fit each client’s needs, emphasize what they do best, and separate them from the crowd. She builds all kinds of sites: e-commerce shops and artist portfolios, individuals and businesses, Bootstrap and WordPress, Squarespace and Photoshelter.

Anne is also an artist and a teacher.

“It’s a lot of fun following your passions. Balancing the creative with the technical has kept both sides of my brain and soul happy.”
